**Position Description**:
The Data Navigator, within the Epic Business Intelligence (BI) team, will use their clinical research, computer science and/or technical and SQL reporting skills to support the Epic Health Information System (HIS). They will ensure research stakeholders have the data required to continue to innovate as we look forward to our key organizational strategic objective of 'Unprecedented outcomes powered by Precision Child Health'.

**Here's What You'll Get To Do**
- Critically analyze requirements from requesters to ensure that the data/report required is clear and has all the necessary information to prioritize.
- Prioritize and organize work packages, always ensuring clear communication with the data consumer on timelines and any issue resolution.
- Create reports, using a third-party report writing tool such as Crystal, to display Clarity Data.
- Generate metrics to support corporate and strategic institutional plans.
- Ensure that all data/report requests follow internal processes and comply with Legal/Regulatory/Privacy/Security standards.
- Ensure data quality and integrity by rigorously testing code and extracts to ensure the data is accurate.
- Keep abreast of system updates and ensure that any regular data pulls are updated accordingly, by analyzing new functionality in system releases to determine how it should be used.
- Work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively on complex data/report requirements.
- Assist with other reporting teams priorities with data/report requests outside of Research, as required.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on assigned work packages and issue escalations.

**Here's What You'll Need**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a clinical discipline/health informatics/information systems/business/computer science/engineering or other related field.
- Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts.
- 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience with report writing, or business intelligence design and development.
- Experience in a health-care environment basic understanding of clinical workflows and terminology preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements into non-technical and vice versa.
- Ability to prioritize and organize assigned work packages and execute tasks in a high pressure environment.
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- A thoroughness which ensures that data provided to data consumers is accurate, quality and meets their needs as efficiently as possible.
- Support ongoing maintenance and upgrades Epic releases, and research billing.
- Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the data model through data model classes.
- Determine data structures that benefit the entire reporting environment.
- Lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, and maintain issues lists.
- High interest to learn new software and increase knowledge over time.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to work equally well independently and as a member of a team to carry out project activities; resilience, and creativity are essential.
- Eagerness to learn the system and promote it within the organization.
- Understand importance and demonstrates ability to foster a culture of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
