Equine Ambulatory Vet Assistant

Paton and Martin Veterinary Services has a full-time position available in our practice for an ambulatory vet assistant to join our solely equine practice in Aldergrove BC.

We are searching for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our amazing team as a veterinary assistant. To be clear: this is not “just” holding horses You will be working in our fast-paced environment to help facilitate the smooth running of our veterinarians’ days, while at the same time delivering a high level of client care.

Within this role, you will be the first point of contact for assisting our ambulatory vets. Exceptional horse handling skills are essential as we aim to deliver the highest standards of care to our clients and to their horses. You will be setting up and taking down equipment, maintaining inventory on the vet trucks, sending out lab work and running in clinic lab tests, trouble shooting computer issues, operating diagnostic equipment, transferring images/documents from equipment to computers, organizing medications to be dispensed, preparing invoices, entering medical records, and a lot of cleaning. This is an extremely varied role where you will need to be adept at responding appropriately to a range of client emotions from excitement and joy to grief, worry or frustration.

Previous horse handling experience, in particular lunging and jogging horses, is required for this position so please include applicable work experience in your resume. Only applicable applicants will be contacted for follow up interviews.

We are looking to fill a position for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and the occasional Wednesday/ Saturday.

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
