Reporting to the Education Program Coordinator, the Theatre Camp Counsellor will supervise a group of children or youth in a day camp setting. Theatre Camp Counsellors will assist in the implementation and delivery of camp activities and ensure camper safety and security throughout the day. Theatre Camp Counsellors are responsible for leading campers through rehearsals to a final performance each session. Follow policies and procedures, while delivering camp services. Work effectively with Education Program Coordinator, Camp Directors, Supervisors, peers, participants and the public.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Implement daily camp activities.
- Modify camp activities to ensure campers with disabilities are able to participate in programs and be fully integrated into the camp setting.
- Ensure there are a variety of activities in the camp program.
- Ensure camp ratios are met at all times.
- Work with the Camp Volunteers to ensure they are included in the programs and have various responsibilities.
- Communicate and interact with participants and make everyone feel welcome
- Ensure campers safety and security throughout the day.
- Complete all necessary forms (accident, incident) in a timely and accurate manner.
- Represent the City of Richmond Hill by presenting yourself in a cooperative, organized, enthusiastic and well-groomed manner.
- Report to work promptly.
- Wear assigned uniform and name tag.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and staff training sessions.
- Know and understand the policies and procedures of the Community Services Department.
- Maintain excellent public relations at all time, with staff and the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Required to work before care and after care shifts throughout the summer
- Required to work scheduled final camp show performances (RHCPA every second Thursday until 8PM, Langstaff every Friday until 5PM)

**Education and Experience**:

- Background experience and an eagerness to work with children
- Background experience with acting, music, dancing or other performing arts
- High Five PHCD Certification
- Standard First Aid and CPR C

**Required Skills/Knowledge**:

- Strong leadership, communication, organization and decision making skills.
- Ability to multi-task
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector check upon hiring
- Specialty camp staff are expected to demonstrate experience and knowledge in the applicable area.
