QM Environmental is Canada’s premier industrial services company. We offer a full suite of environmental contracting services, including environmental construction, such a landfills and related facilities, earthen dam raises, slope and waterway restoration etc. remediation, hazardous materials abatement, emergency response and training.
QM is currently seeking an EHS Coordinator to join our team for the delivery of a project in Sudbury, Ontario.

An EHS Coordinator is responsible for the following duties:
- Coordinates and implements all aspects of the QM EHS program as it applies to site specific activities in accordance with the program requirements, project specific/client specific requirements, provincial and other regulatory agencies
- Works cooperatively with all project team members on site, EHS team members and site supervision / project management team to promote an EHS culture
- Creates continuous improvements and is pro-active in EHS management cycle
- Ensures environment, health and safety is considered in the performance of all activities, adapting to various work environments and business activity
- Communicates all-important EHS related matters immediately to the Site Supervisor and Director, Health & Safety
- Conduct necessary project specific EHS training
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Responsible for all safety related communications either within the project or to the client.
- Plan and conduct Daily Toolbox and weekly safety meetings
- Maintenance of SiteDocs digital EHS program at the project level
- Conduct all incident investigations, root cause analysis and reporting and follow up including communications regarding the incidents with respective parties (employee, client, HR).
- Plan and conduct site orientations for all staff and sub-contract staff as per QM’s EHS program.
- Update and train existing employees as required
- Review and coach supervisors and foreperson on completion of daily job hazard analysis as required (DSWP and/FLHA)
- Responsible for all EHS document control
- Ensuring QM and subcontractor personnel confidentiality is maintained
- Understand and implement QM’s EHS Program, Policy and Procedures
- Ensure health and safety is considered in the performance of all activities
- Ensure EHS compliance with applicable Federal, Provincial/Territorial Acts, Codes and Regulations
- Make recommendations on EHS program protocols, JSAs, Safe Work Procedures etc.
- Oversee the compilation, updating and distribution of health and safety related documentation as required at the project site
- Complete regular site inspections and audits assigned as per internal protocol and established schedules
- Immediately report all workplace injuries to the Site Supervisor, Director of Health & Safety and client (as required)
- Complete all duties as assigned by the Director Health & Safety in a timely fashion
- Manage the daily health and safety activities related to administration and field work
- Pro-actively share EHS information to enhance and maintain safety awareness
- Coordinate/participate in various health and safety meetings, EHS department meetings and other activities
- Coordinate Early and Safe Return to Work, WCB / WSIB case management as required
- Present health and safety concerns to management and operations and assist in the problem-solving process
- Other activities or responsibilities as assigned by the Director Health & Safety
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**:
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline preferred or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
- Knowledge of construction industry is beneficial
- NCSO designation or equivalent preferred or ability to acquire within established timelines; other relevant designations desirable
- Standard First Aid & CPR at mimimum
- Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract a must
**Experience**:
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Must be an adept communicator, willing to share experience and knowledge, capable of mentoring and leading supervisors and workers to EHS due diligence using a collaborative and flexible approach
- Previous experience in WCB/WSIB, ESRTW case management
- Experience in construction, demolition, mining or oil and gas industries considered an asset.
**Knowledge**:
- Work in unionized and non-unionized work environments
- In-depth knowledge of incident reporting and investigation, EHS auditing/COR
- Knowledge of EHS related legislation, provincial, federal and others as applicable
**Abilities**:
- Ability to develop and demonstrate leadership skills
- Ability to travel for work as may be required
- Excellent team player, cooperative approach at all levels, strong relationship building capabilities and ability to treat peers at all levels with respect
