**Title**: Facility Manager

**Location**: Pickering Compost

**Shift**: Monday
- Friday, Saturdays as required

**Responsibilities**:
In the position of Facility Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Pickering Compost & Organics site. You will be responsible for tracking and reporting on key operating measurable including productivity, efficiency, and unscheduled downtime. You will be required to prepare budgets and track/measure performance with respect to approved budget. The facility manager will oversee personnel issues, such as hiring, training, discipline and working with Miller’s HR group to develop alternate resource management approaches. You will implement growth plans as well as manage contract compliance and customer relationships. The manager is responsible to manage Ministry of Labour and Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) compliance issues and to ensure compliance with Miller Waste Policies and Procedures. You will strive for continuous improvement to the overall performance of the site. In this position you will be encouraged to develop an intermediate level of knowledge of compost science, organics pre-processing, anaerobic digestion facilities and best management practices.

**Requirements**:

- Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act
- Prepare and adhere to annual budget expectations as well as prepare and submit monthly variance reports.
- Experience in manufacturing facilities or MRF’s is a definite asset as well as experience in team building and aptitude for results delivery.
- Previous supervisory experience and flexibility to be available across multiple shift operating times is required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, general understanding of controls systems and “hands-on” work experience
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills using common sense approach - Able to work with mínimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Superior organization skills, ability to multi-task
- Strong leadership qualities
- Working knowledge of organic processing, anaerobic digestion, composting, landscaping, soil blending and waste management industry
- Customer service driven
- Experience operating heavy equipment would be an asset
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and MS Teams.
- Ability to acquire and utilize new skills.
- Must be comfortable to perform repetitive movements and stand for extended periods of time
- Must be available to work late, holidays and weekends, as needed
