**Role Summary and Purpose**

The Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist at Old Oak plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s strategic goals, priorities, and evolving business needs. With a focus on driving employee enablement and engagement, the L&D Specialist will provide employees with opportunities for ongoing growth and development via aligned and targeted learning/training initiatives. The L&D Specialist will be the face of Learning at Old Oak, acting as an internal expert, consultant, and program owner, overseeing the organization’s ‘Learning Academy’. The L&D Specialist will report to the Director, People & Culture, working closely with the Manager, People & Culture, IT, as well as other team members, in this broad business-facing role responsible for end-to-end L&D activities and outcomes.

**Responsibilities**
- Talent Development/Learning _
- Drives learning activities:

- Creates learning content for identified on demand, cyclical, and strategic learning in partnership with the Director P&C, Leaders (of relevant programs), SMEs
- Maps out annualized learning events according to Talent Management/Development and Engagement programs; owns the ‘Learning Calendar’
- Prepares any pre-learning event details - prework, directions, instructions, etc.
- Generates process for ensuring participation is captured (i.e. who is accountable for sign-in process if it is a live event)
- Ensures accurate record-keeping - registration and participation in training
- Ensures proper location set up - room/equipment bookings, transportation if relevant, provides on-site support if required/relevant
- Works with the P&C Coordinator/leaders to:

- Coordinate learning schedules and ensure they are set up in the LMS, leveraging the functionality within the HRIS/LMS
- Send invites/other relevant information to target audience for learning opportunities, directing them on how to register/participate in the training
- Coordinates site-based Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) learning and related record-keeping
- Liaises with any external learning and related technology providers/consultants
- Works with P&C DIR to identify tech/software opportunities - e.g. Articulate
- Leverages McLean content for internal leadership development (bringing it to our learners via HRIS/LMS)
- Collaborates with other functions as required - Marketing, Admin, IT
- Systems Administration_
- Acts as key point person for functionality and optimal utilization of LMS in ADP (current HRIS)
- Oversees all data entry into LMS, supporting other P&C team members to leverage system effectively (e.g. for training sessions related to Talent Management Cycle)

**Qualifications**
- Proven experience (5 years) working in training/learning/organizational development in an org-wide context, ideally within an HR/P&C function; understanding of the professional field of Human Resources and core premises of org and talent development
- Professional learning/training (ATD, CPTD, DCLDP, etc.) certification an asset
- Understanding of and ability to drive all phases of ADDIE Instructional Design (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), with flex as needed
- Project Management ability required; certification an asset
- Experience identifying sourcing options and engaging in RFP process with external providers (training delivery, content, technology, etc.)
- Able to maintain positive working relationships with external vendors/providers
- Able to create positive, engaging, and effective relationships with colleagues at all levels; influence without authority, and be comfortable engaging with front line through senior leaders
- Lead effective project teams comprised of various members (e.g. from P&C team, SMEs from the business, Senior Leader sponsors, IT, Marketing, external, et al)
- Relevant technology experience and keen adopter of latest in-field practices - LMS and Instructional Design (ID) tools; Absorb, Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360, and knowledge of how content interacts/integrates with an HRIS
- Familiarity with Kirkpatrick’s training evaluation model and ability to create learning for impact, identifying upfront ROI/measures of success for learning initiatives (selectively/strategically)
- RPT, HRPA certification/membership an asset
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
