**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Accounts Payable & Receivable**: Process and manage vendor invoices and customer payments, ensuring timely and accurate postings.
- **Payroll**: Administer bi-weekly payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and timely processing.
- **Government Remittances**: Calculate and remit HST/GST, payroll deductions, Employer Health Tax, WSIB premiums and other applicable government remittances.
- **Management Reports**: Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, and generate weekly cash flow reports for management.
- **Job Costing**: Maintain accurate job costing records, ensuring all costs related to specific projects are tracked and allocated correctly allowing for accurate reporting.
- **Group Health Benefits & RRSP Program**: Oversee the administration of the company's group health benefits plan and manage the RRSP program for employees, ensuring timely contributions and compliance with regulations.
- **Bank Reconciliation**: Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial transactions.
- **Financial Reporting**: Assist in preparing quarterly and year-end reports for external accountants.
- **General Ledger Maintenance**: Ensure proper accounting entries, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- **Other Tasks**: Assist with other financial tasks and special projects as needed.
**Qualifications**:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role, ideally in the construction or landscaping industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
- Proficiency in job costing and the ability to allocate costs accurately to projects.
- Solid understanding of payroll processing and government remittances in Canada.
- Experience in maintaining group health benefits and RRSP programs for employees.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- A background or interest in the construction/landscaping industry is an asset.
**Working Conditions**:
- Part-time position - we require you to work in our office two half days per week
