We’re seeking an executive operations leader to join Invest Ottawa’s team of advisors. This Operations Advisor will assist later-stage technology companies (in the IO ScaleUp program) to scale their operations in order to scale the business.

**Our Companies**

IO ScaleUp companies are scaling their teams, revenue and markets. They generally have at least 20 full-time employees with annual revenue ranging from $2 million all the way up to $100 million in annual revenue. To qualify for the program, firms need to have at least 20% YoY growth (revenue or employees). They typically have a dedicated operations team led by a senior operations leader.

Relative to their stage of growth, our clients are seeking advisory support across all facets of business operations including operational strategy, process design, execution frameworks, and cross-functional alignment, as well as organizational efficiency and team scalability.

**Our Advisors**

Our Advisors are independent contractors typically with their own thriving consulting practices. They are available between 15-20 hours per month and paid the standard advisor rate of $150/hour. Please note that these hours are not guaranteed and will depend on client demand each month, your participation in meetings with Invest Ottawa team members, and attendance at events.

**Reporting to Invest Ottawa’s Director, Venture Programs, the Operations Advisor will support clients by**:

- Leading monthly peer groups with local Operations leaders (COOs, Operations Execs and Operations developing leaders) that drives a high trust culture in the peer group and enables participants to learn from one another.
- Providing direct one-on-one advisory and mentoring to their Operations leaders, thereby helping to solve business and organizational challenges.
- Delivering best practice workshops on driving operational excellence including strategy, process design and execution, and cross-functional alignment.
- Informing clients of emerging trends in operations (such as best-in-class AI tools) to improve operational efficiency.
- Facilitating introductions or connections between our client companies and relevant stakeholders when appropriate for the company’s benefit.

**We would love to hear from you if you**:

- Have previously held a COO role or an executive-level (VP or higher) operations role at a tech company that successfully scaled to at least $25M in annual revenue.
- Possess firsthand experience with the challenges faced by rapidly growing tech companies.
- Have experience scaling business teams through various stages of growth.
- Are well versed in all areas of operations, including strategy, cross function alignment, execution methodologies, process optimization, business analytics, financial analysis.
- Can swiftly diagnose challenges and provide clear, effective guidance.
- Exhibit strong emotional intelligence, with a proven ability to build trust and maintain relationships, underscored by exceptional listening and communication skills.
- Are predominantly based in the Ottawa region.
- Have a passion for helping the Ottawa tech sector grow and thrive.
