**Custodian responsibilities include**:

- Keeping the premises in a clean and orderly condition at all times
- Carrying out heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning windows, mopping floors and shampooing carpets
- Duties also include performing general maintenance tasks and handling minor repair work
- Following health and safety regulations
- Managing and maintaining the cleanliness of all assigned areas
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures and safety standards
- Completing work assignments in a timely and efficient manner
- Communicating effectively with supervisors and co-workers

**Custodian skills**:

- Proven experience as a custodian or janitor
- Working knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery
- Excellent physical stamina and strength
- High school diploma; custodial certification is a plus
