**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Keith Panel Systems is a growing and successful, Burnaby-based manufacturer and installer of architectural panels. Reporting directly to the co-Directors of the Company and providing support to the ownership group, the Controller will assume an important role as the leader of the financial team. The right individual will be a team player who is a diligent, detail oriented self-starter with an interest and ability to understand and implement financial and information systems.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The Controller is responsible for the effective overall management of the financial affairs of the business and assists the co-Directors and the ownership group in assessing risks, opportunities and capital expenditures from a financial and tax perspective.

The Controller manages a team of two (2) accounting professionals (payroll and accounts payable/billings) and is accountable to the company’s co-Directors. The Controller collaborates through this reporting relationship to maintain communication on material developments or decisions, in order to ensure the

Directors have timely and complete information on all strategic and financial matters.

The right individual will have a strong background and interest in creating and implementing systems to streamline the accounting function, monitor the business and generally improve the information available to the management team to make decisions. Keith Panel Systems currently uses Jonas as an ERP system and the Controller will, over time, develop a deep understanding of the system to ensure the Company is maximizing its potential within our operation.

The primary accountabilities of the Controller are:
**Financial Reporting**
- Prepare monthly internal financial statements on a timely basis
- Orchestrate and prepare annual audit with external auditors
- Track project profitability
- Daily Bank Reconciliation
- Develop and implement effective risk assessment, risk management and mitigation plans for financial risks
- Regular financial reporting and covenant compliance with lender
- Timely reporting of monthly KPI’s to management team and the ownership group

**Operating Functions**
- Plan and implement the processes, internal controls and systems needed to accurately report the financial results
- Manage the monthly process of project progress billing
- Manage and track supplier rebate programs
- Oversee Accounts Receivable collections
- Establish and monitor adherence to credit policies including credit limits for customers
- Manage relationship and communication with lenders
- As part of the audit lead the internal effort to ensure each project’s revenue is recognized appropriately for the fiscal year
- Managing reporting requirements to KPS’ bonding agent
- Prepare budget forecasts
- Manage annual process of obtaining appropriate commercial insurance coverage
- Oversee A/P and Payroll processing

**Tax**
- Responsible for all aspects of tax compliance including preparation and filing of returns for all types of tax including GST, PST, WorkSafeBC BC, payroll and income taxes.
- Oversee audits performed by tax authorities

**Experience Required**
- Professional accounting designation with a university degree specializing in finance.
- Five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience as a lead accountant/controller in an operating company
- Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures include the Generally

Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Professional accounting designation with a university degree specializing in finance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong background in creating excel spreadsheets
- Knowledge of Jonas Software for construction is a plus

**Salary**: $130,000.00-$160,000.00 per year
