**Position Title**
- Student Connect Centre Advisor**Position Summary**
- The Student Connect Centre serves as a single point of contact for students to access academic, award, and funding information. This generalist advising position’s primary responsibility is to provide front line support and service to assist students in making informed decisions concerning their educational goals. The position is part of a collaborative team that builds and improves the processes that attract learners to RDP and supports them as they move from prospective student to graduate.- Using a learner-centered approach this position will provide guidance to current and prospective students to ensure they have the appropriate academic and financial supports to successfully achieve their educational goals. This role requires the ability to solve complex problems, make decisions and find solutions while exercising independent judgment and maintaining confidentiality. This position requires a high degree of flexibility, creativity, initiative, and collaboration.**Position Responsibilities**
- Responsibilities of the Student Connect Centre Advisor include:
- General Client Service- Provide information to students in a holistic manner.
- Create/complete confirmation of enrolment letters/forms.
- Inform Associate Registrar, Student Services of emerging issues as necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of RDP policies and procedures.
- Refer students to other services and resources as necessary.
- Collect and accurately record student information ensuring FOIPP standards are maintained.
- Enter information into Banner and prepare reports as needed.
- Academic Advising:
- Deliver academic advising to current and prospective students.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of admission criteria, transfer requirements and program completion options.
- Educate students in identified programs about career planning and registration processes.
- Assist students in the development of an educational plan.
- Teach students about the content and structure of post-secondary programs.
- Assist students with admission/registration forms.
- Provide accurate information related to prior learning based on pre-determined data and established processes. Refer to the Design & Assessment Coordinator as appropriate.
- Provide support to new and continuing student registration.
- Awards:
- Screen students and refer them to the award opportunities they may be eligible to receive.
- Provide instructions for submitting the documentation required for award disbursement.
- Advise students of the disbursement process for various awards.
- Generate a list of awards students have received through RDP.
- Respond to student requests for details on specific RDP awards.
- Advise students regarding the consequences of academic decisions as related to awards.
- Direct students to external award opportunities.
- Funding:
- Screen students and refer them to the appropriate type of funding for their unique situation.
- Advise students on the process for submitting missing information and funding appeals.
- Provide instructions for processing funding certificates, agreements, etc.
- Advise students on the status of their funding.
- Guide students through the tuition payment process for all types of funding.
- Guide students through the tuition extension eligibility requirements and process.
- Provide information on student loan repayment and repayment assistance programs.
- Advise students of consequences of academic decisions as related to funding.
- Sign government forms related to funding (authorized signing official).
- Student Connect Centre Program Support
- Emergency Funding:
- Recognize that a student is in crisis, even if the student is not forthcoming regarding the full nature of their situation.
- Issue emergency refunds and book loans.
- Refer students to services at RDP and in the external community.
- Financial Wellness:
- Refer students to financial wellness services at RDP and in the external community.
- Assist students to budget their resources.
- Recruitment Initiatives:
- Support recruitment initiatives by providing high quality client service.
- Provide tours of RDP Campus to prospective students when the SCC Advisor - Recruitment is not available.
- Support recruitment initiatives and events as assigned.
- Attend booth-style events as needed.
- Other Specialized Responsibilities- Complete specialized project work as assigned by the Associate Registrar, Student Services or SCC Specialist.
- Completion of specialized funding forms including Confirmation of Enrolment forms and Program Information forms.
- Administrative support for the SCC as required.
**Required Qualifications**
- Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of University in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent.
