The Material Handler is responsible for the handling of in-house materials within the warehouse and point of use. They ensure that all material is stored in designated areas and that materials are available to Craftspeople at point of use. The Material Handler will also be responsible for maintaining the overall process of the storage, identification and movement of material within the production area. The Material Handler will work closely with the production Supervisors to coordinate the delivery of materials required within their departments.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates the flow of material from receiving, warehousing and point of use.
Ensures all materials used in production are clearly identified.
Ensures that designated locations at point of use are kept stocked.
Ensures Kan Ban cards are in place where required.
Takes responsibility for the organization of the warehousing area.
Responsible for identifying / labelling all material designated locations.
Works closely with production to coordinate the movement of material.
Works directly with purchasing to identify possible material issues and solutions.
Assists shipping and receiving when required.
Uses/wears any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety devices required by Hörmann Barrie to ensure safety at all times.
Reports any known missing or defective equipment or protective devices as well as any known workplace hazards.
Conducts daily equipment safety checks as required.
Periodically performs other duties as assigned or required.
Maintains good house keeping and the 5S program within the warehouse
Works in compliance with the O.H.S.A as well as established Hormann polices and procedures
Reports any known hazards or safety violations they are aware of to their Supervisor
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment
Minimum 2 years experience operating a counterbalance forklift
Experience in a shipping/receiving role preferred
