**Position Description**:
**Job Description - Advanced Practice Clinical (APC) Leader (Brain and Mental Health Program)**
The Brain and Mental Health Program at the Hospital for Sick Children is undertaking an ambitious agenda to expand services, increase research and academic activities with the goal of improving care and outcomes for children and youth with brain-based disorders. Inclusive of Psychiatry, Telepsychiatry, Adolescent Medicine, Neurology, Neurosurgery, the Departments of Social Work and Psychology, and the Garry Hurvitz Centres for Brain and Mental Health and Community Mental Health, the program serves complex patients and their families across acute inpatient services, urgent outpatient care and treatment, and community based mental health interventions spanning early intervention and prevention to intensive mental health treatment services.
Inclusive of a dynamic mix of inter-professional staff, the Brain and Mental Health Program, collaborating with many hospital colleagues, departments, divisions, and community partners, strives to provide the highest quality of patient and family centred care for children and youth both locally and provincially. Recognizing the diverse needs of the patients and families served, the Brain and Mental Health Program recognizes the importance of comprehensive pediatric care inclusive of integrated physical and mental health treatment, culturally competent approaches to care and the impact of social determinants of health on child health outcomes.
An integral part of the SickKids Mental Health Strategy involves increasing the team's leadership and clinical supervision capacity. The **Advanced Practice Clinical (APC) Leader** provides clinical supervisory leadership and supports point-of-care staff in the implementation and evaluation of best practices in the assessment, treatment, and recovery of patients with mental health and/or concurrent physical/mental health disorders. The APC will supervise both staff and trainees and, in this context, will provide clinical care in addition to the supervisory and leadership accountabilities. The APC will report to the Executive Director of the Brain and Mental Health Program, the Associate Chief of the Department and will work collaboratively with the Senior Clinical Manager and other members of the leadership team.
**Here's What You Will Do**:
- Provides direct care and/or consultation to complex and high-risk patients.
- Co-ordinates team supervision processes (e.g., individual, or team-based supervision)
- Promotes an inter-professional culture of collaboration, academic and student support Leads and collaborates the design and implementation of integrated care pathways and measurement-based care with the goals of supporting research and enhancing capacity to track patient related outcomes
- Leads and supports mental health strategy initiatives inclusive of the design and implementation of new models of care, necessary staff training, and evaluation and research initiatives integrated with these models.
- Participates in or facilitate quality improvement projects and quality reviews focusing on patient safety, adherence, and fidelity to evidence-based models of practice.
- Participates with leadership in strategic program planning and evaluation.
- Supports adherence to standards of clinical practice through supervision, and participation in other quality procedures including M and M rounds, chart audits etc.
- Actively supports a culture of innovation, accountability, clinical standards, and productivity
- Participates in internal and external committees.
- Support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.
**Here's What You'll Need**:
- Member in good standing of a relevant professional regulatory college in Ontario (Psychology, Social Work etc.)
- Five years of relevant clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of children and youth with complex mental health disorder
