**THE OPPORTUNITY**

**The Vista on Sparks**, located in Ottawa, Ontario is actively seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our growing team.

Reporting to the **Executive Director**, the **Dining Services Manager** is responsible for managing all aspects of Front of House service, including dining rooms, Bistro, room service, and events in collaboration with Culinary and other departments to create and maintain a memorable dining experience. Focusing on service quality, dining room setup, cleanliness, and delivery of meals in compliance with the residents’ dietary needs, expectations, relevant legislative/regulatory requirements, and Company policies and procedures.

**THE SPECIFICS**
- Employment Term: Permanent
- Job Type: Full-Time Salaried (based on 80 hours biweekly, including rotational weekends)
- Work Location and Arrangement: Ottawa, ONSITE
- Vacancy Status: Existing Vacancy
- Compensation: $55,000 - $62,000 annual base salary; also eligible for a discretionary, performance-based bonus

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure all residents and guests are greeted and welcomed in a friendly manner and their questions are answered as required; become familiar with resident preferences.
- Attend to and resolve customer concerns in a professional manner, and/or refer to the Executive Chef as required.
- Coordinate guest reservations and work closely with the Marketing department to ensure potential residents are invited to have a meal and enjoy their dining experience.
- Work as part of the team to take and confirm resident census, seat residents/guests, serve beverages and help clear tables to ensure timely turnaround time.
- Consult with Care Team to ensure special requests/diets are served to the appropriate residents.
- Enforce and adhere to all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, and legislation regarding health and safety, food service standards, and Company policies and procedures.
- Employ the highest standards of professionalism by following the Company dress code, and providing leadership by example within the department.
- Conduct employee recruitment, training, and scheduling ensuring all applicable compliance requirements and company policies are met.
- Coordinate staff activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly; maintain shift schedules to ensure sufficient employee coverage.
- Attend/participate in residents’ food council meetings, staff meetings and required training.
- Perform server and other job duties as required.
- Continuously follow the established standards of service and ensure that these values are demonstrated in day-to-day practices.
- Demonstrate the ability to interact effectively within the team, suppliers, residents and families as well as external service.

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Frequently lift up to 35 pounds; occasionally pull up to 50 pounds.
- Walk and stand on a variety of surfaces for at least 4 hours per day.
- Bend, kneel, and work with arms raised on a regular basis.

**WHO YOU ARE**
- High School (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to plan & organize workload.
- Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations.
- Ability to guide and motivate employees.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fine dining.
- Banquet experience is an asset
- Experience with supervising, coaching and training employees preferred.
- Safe Food Handling Certificate required.
- Smart Serve Certificate required.
- Computer proficiency including MS Office and POS systems.
- Sound English communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must be able to provide a police check with vulnerable sector screen upon hire.
- Must be able to provide results of TB (tuberculosis) testing (2-step skin test or chest x-ray) upon hire.
- Must be able to provide a record of vaccination for COVID-19 (minimum 2 doses) upon hire.
