As a GIS Technician at Chartwell, you will be responsible for creating, modifying, maintaining, displaying and troubleshooting GIS maps and databases for Natural Resource and Utilities-based projects. This role involves working closely with staff and clients to complete a variety of GIS tasks to meet client deliverables. You will work as part of a team of GIS professionals on a variety of projects, leveraging your GIS expertise and client interaction skills. A key aspect of this position is your eagerness to learn, adapt, and innovate in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
**Responsibilities**:
The position’s responsibilities will generally include:
- Spatial data management
- Developing and delivering on operational mapping projects with tight timelines
- Managing incoming field collected data from clients and staff
- Converting, importing, managing, and manipulating data from a variety of sources
- Performing QA/QC tasks to ensure GIS data integrity
- Using Python, SQL, or other scripting language to perform tasks
- Maintenance and development of GIS infrastructure
- Troubleshooting issues related to GIS and web-based mapping systems
**Qualifications**:
- A minimum of one year of GIS experience working on natural resource-based mapping projects
- Formal education in GIS with a background in Forestry, Geography or Computer Science
- Experience using Esri, QGIS, and mobile products for data collection and mapping
- Experience leveraging map series or other methods for automated map production
- Experience programming and scripting using Python, SQL, or Arcade
- Excellent data management and cartographic skills
- Strong reasoning and troubleshooting abilities with attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to customer service
**Compensation**:
- The hourly range is between $28-$33 and will be commensurate with experience.
