The District of Kent, located in the picturesque Eastern Fraser Valley, is offering an exciting opportunity in our Corporate Services Department for an IT / GIS Technician.
Under the supervision of the Director of Corporate Services, the IT/GIS Technician will prepare and archive historical records, assist in the maintenance of the Municipal mapping database (including legal and utility servicing maps and drawings), web-based development and maintenance, and website updates. The IT/GIS Technician also provides technical support, information, advice, and assistance (computer user support and problem resolution) to staff.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Diploma/Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Sciences, Information Technology (IT), or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a municipal, engineering, planning or architectural office environment.
Pay and benefits for this full-time bargaining unit position are in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458. The 2025 post-probationary wage rate for this position is $40.57 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.
