Program/Policy Development & Support (Safety Program Research and Development)
- Conducts traffic safety research and analysis, and assists in the development of traffic safety information systems, monitoring of key safety trends, and distribution/presentation of information and research results in appropriate internal and external forums (e.g., journals, conferences).
- Conducts research on emerging trends, analyzes and interprets data, and assists in the identification of opportunities for program and policy improvements.
- Supports crash data management through the development of traffic safety information systems (e.g., Traffic Accident Information System [TAIS] and Geographic Information System [GIS]).
- Manages data exchange with external partners and agencies, such as the Ministry of Highways, Transport Canada (National Collision Database), and cities and municipalities.
- Answers complex requests for traffic safety information from the public as well as government and SGI departments.
- Works with external research partners and liaises with contractors to complete surveys of traffic safety indicators, public opinion surveys, and externally conducted research and program evaluation projects.
- Keeps up to date with new road safety research publications in other jurisdictions, developments in social issues, as well as quantitative and quantitative research methods.
- Coordinates research projects, including assisting in preparing risk assessments and change management strategies; implementing and supporting program/policy changes; and supporting continuous process improvement.
- Assists in developing and synthesizing data from a variety of sources and prepares reports that reflect provincial and national patterns and trends of traffic safety initiative administration and operations.
Program Delivery and Evaluation
- Tracks, reports, and presents on the effectiveness and efficiency of traffic safety programs to internal and external stakeholders as feedback for improvement purposes.
- Facilitates the production of the Annual Traffic Safety Report.
- Monitors key safety trends and distributes information as needed.
- Assists in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of key metrics for program evaluation purposes.
- Assists in the review, development, and recommendation of changes to traffic safety program evaluation frameworks.
- Conducts high-level analyses of traffic safety program evaluations, including identification of trends, correlation, and potential strategic evaluation inquiries.
- Facilitates data retrieval for management as needed for reporting, analyses, and other purposes.
- Oversees and supervises the work of program evaluation staff and serves as the reference point for questions on a day-to-day basis.
Customer Experience Management
- Assists in managing, monitoring, and evaluating customer experience, ensuring it meets divisional and corporate expectations.
- Provides direction, advice, and guidance to employees on complex customer requests and transactions.
- Receives and resolves escalated customer inquiries under the direction of the Director of Traffic Safety Program Evaluation.
External Stakeholder Relationship Management (CCMTA, Highways and Infrastructure, Justice Department, RCMP, CARSP, Municipal Policy Makers)
- Builds and maintains relationships and/or partnerships with external agencies and other stakeholders.
- Maintains ongoing communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Consults with external agencies and other stakeholders to assess impacts of proposed traffic safety programs.
- Participates as a member of industry committees and/or boards as required.
People Leadership
- Builds a high-performing workforce by actively leading human resource activities.
