Casualty & Auto Adjuster

The Casualty & Auto Adjuster is mainly responsible for handling minor to complex size casualty claims. In addition, the adjuster will handle some automobile, accident benefits and minor property losses. The role is to provide excellent customer service throughout with proper investigation of the loss, evaluation of coverage, negotiation of the claim and its ultimate settlement within the parameters of the policy wording and using the standards and guidelines set forth in the Claims Manual. The adjuster will also provide direction to independent adjusters and lawyers as required in the claims process.
**MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Coverage determination, investigation, negotiation and settlement of claims
- Timely and effective contact with insureds, third parties, adjusters and lawyers in order to establish a right and equitable settlement
- Clear and concise communication with all involved parties
- Participate in mediations, hearings & trials _(occasional travel may be required)_
- Maintaining awareness and understanding of current case law and coverage trends
.Regular exchange of information/communication between departments as it pertains to the risk.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICICATIONS**
- An intuitive mind
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management, prioritization, organizational and planning skills required
- Ability to problem solve, self-motivated and work independently but able to collaborate in a team environment
- Good knowledge of anatomy, physiology
- Extensive knowledge of Legal & Arbitration system
- Good knowledge of Alberta Auto & Accident Benefit regulations
- Minimum of 5 years prior experience in a similar role
- Post Secondary Education preferred
- Completion of CIP designation or similar would be an asset
- Prior experience of property loss would be an asset
