Project Manager, School of Skilled Trades

**NOTE: This is a temporary position ending on or before June 2027.**
Under the direction of the SST Director of Academic Operations, the Project Manager, (PM) is responsible for leading various SST strategic projects, including those with institute-wide impact and affecting many different internal and external stakeholders. The critical strategic project that will be managed is the “Women Leading and Building Canada’s Future” (WLBCF), which is a joint venture spanning several NAIT departments, several industry partners, and Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).
The WLCBF project is in its early stages; the PM must create and then manage a detailed project plan to achieve the defined deliverables in the approved project charter. The PM’s work involves extensive stakeholder and communication management spanning the entire project life cycle. Due to the joint venture nature and scale of the WLBCF project, the work will require managing multiple related sub-projects and competing timelines, each requiring flexibility with time and work management.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Project Management
- Drawing upon experience, and consulting with key project stakeholders, the PM will select and determine the most appropriate project delivery approach (or combination).
- Use NAIT-adopted project management methodology framework to plan, manage, and monitor all aspects of the project lifecycle.
- Prepare charters, project plans, and procurement documents (such as request(s) for proposal)
- Negotiate project resources with department heads, chairs, and school leadership.
- Proactively manage project risks and issues that could affect the outcome of a project
- Coordinate communications, internal and external
- Perform change management tasks to help critical stakeholders progress through the project life cycle.
Business Analysis
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to gather and define comprehensive requirements that will inform subsequent stages of the progressive elaboration of the project.
- Create analysis or other decision documents that are used as approval stage gates to move the project forward.
Coaching & Training
- Support project members in building their skill sets
- Act as the first point of contact for the Women Leading and Building Canada’s Future project(s)

**Qualifications**:
- Related Post-Secondary Education (Journeyperson certificate/Diploma/Degree)
- Extensive Project management Experience
- 3-5 years related experience
- Due to the focus of this project being Women in Skilled Trades, preference may be given to women with experience in the trades or to applicants with extensive experience supporting women in the trades
**Remuneration**: $2,751.60 - $3,645.28 biweekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
