Resident Educator(Live in Dorm Parent)

Boarders experience a sense of welcome, belonging, value and respect. Dorm Parents play a key role in the lives of our boarding students.
**Responsibilities**:
Lead and care for students as a mentor, supervisor and positive role model.
Assist, plan and organize educational activities and lessons to help improve cultural and linguistic understanding
Ensuring overall student needs are met including health, social well-being, behaviour management, and emotional support
Advocating for students’ best interests by maintaining liaison with parents, agents, and teachers when required
Being an active listener for students experiencing academic and/or personal difficulties
Working with students to develop a sense of respect for self, others and community
Structuring and fulfilling duties related to students’ daily schedule, including support around uniform needs and health needs ie: ensuring proper uniform is worn daily
Work professionally and respectfully with other Dorm Parents to ensure the students needs are met
Understand students main care takes place during afternoons, evenings and weekends and work accordingly
Education, Experience and Skills
Diploma in Education, Child & Youth Care or equivalent
Experience dealing with people, and in particular, adolescents
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Computer literate including but not limited to working with Microsoft products
Ability to establish priorities, organize, schedule and solve problems and tasks.
Leadership experience and experience working in a Boarding School is preferable but not necessary
Class 4 Driver's license or ability to obtain within three months of employment an asset
Must complete a Ministry Criminal Record Check
**What we offer**:
Free parking including an electric car station
$22.00/hr plus 4% in lieu
Eligibility to participate in our Extended Health Benefit plan after successful completion of 3-month probationary period (if working a minimum 24 hours or more a week)
