Analytical Lab Technician

**Job Description**:

- Our site in Toronto, Ontario is seeking an Analytical Lab Technician to join our team The primary objective of this position is to perform accurate chemical analysis on raw materials, in process samples and finished products according to written procedures and calibration, maintenance troubleshooting of lab instruments and housekeeping.
- Shift: 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM This position may require overtime, occasional morning shifts and rotation-based weekend work.

What You’ll Do:
- Test and analyze R&D samples, manufactured materials, incoming material and in-process samples when needed in timely manner.-
- Drive for continuous improvement of existing testing methods.-
- Perform material characterizations using analytical instruments.-
- Use proper controls for analytical instrumentation, validates and verifies data and take corrective action when necessary.-
- Maintain instrumentation and performs procedures for product testing purposes.Interpret and document all test results, calculations and observations and complete report summaries as per established SOP.-
- Dispose waste samples, solvents based on procedure and order any chemicals or laboratory supplies as required.-
- Perform role of Document Reviewer. Review various department reports, for analysis completed in wet chemistry and on automated laboratory equipment.-
- Test and develop new analytical methods for internal and external customers-
- Support to solve customers’ quality complaints and provide solutions to their technical issues-
- Continuous training on various analytical techniques and methodsWhat We Seek:
- Recognizes OOS or out of trend results and under the direction of the Supervisor complete lab investigations.-
- Promptly notifies lab manager of any observations or results, which may impact on the validity of data and or reflect variability in the manufacturing process where applicable.-
- Performs general maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, according to the department’s established calibration program.-
- Troubleshoots instrumentation and method problems with the supervisor’s assistance.-
- Uses knowledge of GLP to assess impact on compliance and obtain supervisors assistance.-
- Provides technical troubleshooting support or training to other team members and production chemists where appropriate.-
- Maintains a high standard of laboratory housekeeping.-
- Maintains ownership of A&C supplies inventory, organizing and monitoring minimum stock and escalating the need for new purchase order.-
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Chemistry with 2+ years of experience preferred;-
- Must have hands on experience with sample preparation techniques for complex matrices.-
- Lab instrument operations and maintenance experience required for some but not all of the following equipment: KF titration, GC/GC-MS, IC/IC-MS, LC, FTIR, NMR, ICPMS.-
- Must be willing to work with potentially hazardous chemistries using industry standard safety protocols-
- Experience with Semiconductor analytical method development requirements strongly preferred (protocols for determining instrument/method detection limits, accuracy, linearity, precision, and robustness)-
- Intimate knowledge of instrument software controls to eliminate manual manipulation of data strongly preferred.-
- Basic computer knowledge, including MS Office required; must be proficient in excel-
- Prior experience working in a chemical/ gas manufacturing environment preferred.-
- Experience with applicable quality tools such as JMP, Minitab, SAP, SQC/SPC, process mapping, design of experiments and CAPA preferred.-
- Self-starting leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills-
- Must be responsible for more than one project at a time.-
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and to face difficult and challenging situationsWhat We Offer:
