They will ensure Bird’s Values and Business objectives are adhered to at site, consistently demonstrate the Bird brand and operate a site where all stakeholders are treated with respect and professionalism.

This position will require to go to remote site (North of Ontario)

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversee the operation and maintenance of the hydropower plant, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
- Manage a team of skilled professionals, including engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, to ensure optimal plant performance.
- Develop and implement maintenance and repair plans, including preventative maintenance schedules, to ensure equipment and systems are operating at maximum efficiency.
- Monitor plant performance metrics, including output, efficiency, and downtime, and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and manage the plant budget, including capital expenditures and operating costs.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, such as government agencies, suppliers, and contractors, to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of projects.
- Participate in plant design and construction activities, including the review of design plans, equipment selection, and procurement
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and systems.
- Support the development of commissioning and turn over plans.
- Manage risk during the project by following the Risk Management Plan.
- Provide cost-effective solutions to construction issues and coordinate with the Project Manager.

What we are looking for:

- Undergraduate degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or another relevant field
- Strong familiarity with contract administration, understanding drawings, specifications, architectural and engineering standards and building practices, including building codes
- 10 years’ experience in the construction industry, with a focus on Hydropower projects
- Strong knowledge of hydropower systems, equipment, and maintenance practices.
- Excellent budgeting, costing and scheduling skills
- Strong computer skills, MS Office, MS Project, Procore, SAP
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing all disciplines, internal employees and external sub-trades
- Ability to inspire trust in difficult situations by instilling confidence and engaging people on matters that affect them
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges
- Works within tight deadlines and prioritizes of work to achieve them
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated through speaking to groups of employees on site, and communicating to a variety of stakeholders including clients, management, and site employees
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
