Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world. Sudbury is also home to several administrative sites serving both the Ontario Operations as well as all our North Atlantic Operations.

Port Colborne is home to our Nickel Refinery where raw materials from our Sudbury operations are processed into electrocobalt and precious metals and serves as a distribution centre for finished nickel products.

**Our Team**

Our employees at Totten Mine work predominately underground the team consists of a wide range of operators, maintainers, technologists, engineers, and support staff who work in alignment with Vale Values.

**The Opportunity**

We are currently seeking an **Operations **Project Superintendent **to join **Totten Mine **in **Sudbury, Ontario. **This is a **permanent **position.

You will be a key member of the team, who will be fully integrated with the operating and maintenance superintendents to implement and evaluate continuous improvement projects. This includes implementing corporate initiatives but also assessing data to determine strategic projects for long-term productivity and cost saving initiatives. The position will allow opportunities to strategically change the safe efficient production at Totten Mine.

In this position you will:

- Audit and analyze systems within the area(s) of accountability to achieve the following outputs:

- Zero harm to employees, the business, the environment, and the community,
- Provide the required direction and change management skills to develop and implement the required tactical and strategic projects to attain the required
- All projects must focus on improving business systems and processes and aligning best practices to improve safety, quality, production, and cost performance in the short and long term. Ensuring all activities follow VPS (Vale Production System).
- Audit and analyze KPIs and trends in safety, maintenance, cost, quality, and schedule compliance.
- Develop and implement actions to address common cause variances or continuous improvement opportunities, with a focus on optimal resource allocation while meeting the quantity and quality output requirements of the crews.
- Be a key driver in change management, working with crews, supervisors and superintendents to implement projects and reinforce the correct processes and projects and champion Vale values
- Provide performance feedback to team members, coach, and counsel employees on the standards of behaviour, and take corrective action as required.
- Contribute to the implementation of new systems/processes and provide guidance, auditing, mentoring and analysis support to the management team.
- Work with the HSE Committee to develop actions to improve safety, health and environmental performance and verify compliance with established Service Level Agreements (SLA) and required standards.
- Provide relief for Operations, Fixed Plant and Logistics Superintendents when required.

**About You**

Education**:

- Strong knowledge and experience in underground mine operations.
- Mine Technologist or Mine Engineering Degree is advantageous.

**Experience**:

- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience and 10 years of mining or industrial experience.

**Skills**:

- Must have strong organization and time leadership skills
- High initiative and can self-direct to accomplish goals with minimum supervision
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Strong drive results
- High level of confidence speaking to crews and supervisors
