As a **Risk Specialist,** you'll conduct check, wire, and other time-sensitive reviews, as well as help us scale and iterate as we scale our product offerings You'll benefit from our incredible advisors and experienced management team, who have helped create and scale companies like Square, McKinsey, Google, Frank and Oak, Wealthsimple, Instacart, Prodigy, Oportun, eBay, and more.

**WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING**
- Conducting check, wire, and other time-sensitive transaction reviews within established SLAs with a high quality standard - reviewing up to 75 transactions per day.
- Working with our external partners that support our Compliance program.
- Be the point of contact for our banking partners by answering all inquiries relating to NorthOne customers within 1 business day.
- Be a risk manager by using your knowledge to identify and highlight emerging areas of risk.
- Act as an owner of your workflow process - we're always looking to make things better, and we're scaling fast
- Opportunity to cross train on other customer reviews and assist as necessary.

**REQUIREMENTS**

Today, you might be a Risk or Fraud Specialist, Fraud Operations Specialist, Risk Analyst, Financial Crimes Specialist, or you might not have as much formal experience. The most important characteristic of our **Risk Specialist** is your attitude - you are curious, detail-oriented, fast-paced, and determined, and believe in access to the financial ecosystem.

**The skills required for this role -**
- 1+ years of experience in check/wire reviews, and/or account compromise/unusual card activity investigations or analysis
- You understand fraud risk typologies associated with neo-banks like NorthOne
- You have a keen attention to detail, and like digging into the weeds to find the source of a problem
- You have strong customer interaction skills and enjoy talking with customers to verify transactions
- You are intellectually curious, and enjoy looking for patterns and anomalies amongst data
- You get giddy and proactive when it comes to program and process improvements
- You're passionate about building world-class products with a world-class team

**Bonus points -**
- You're familiar with check review tools (UrbanFt, Ingo, etc.)
- You know your way around a Compliance review (KYC, KYB, Transaction Monitoring, SAR reviews) and how AML and fraud intersect - and how they diverge
- You have experience reviewing identity, beneficial ownership, and business documentation
- You've supported a product roadmap by working with product owners to identify and implement product control
- You've worked in a scaling startup (you are a fighter)
