**Job Summary**:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee the internal operations of YWCA Halifax, ensuring that programs, services, and resources are managed efficiently and align with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Strategic Implementation**:

- Implement and execute the YWCA’s strategic plan and work with the CEO to develop and refine internal processes and systems to support the organization’s goals.
- **Operational Oversight**:

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization to ensure effective management of resources, program delivery, and service excellence.
- Lead cross-departmental collaboration to enhance efficiency and streamline operations.
- **Departmental Leadership**:

- Direct and support key departments, including Programs, Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, and IT.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within each department.

**- Performance Monitoring**:

- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess organizational performance and ensure operational objectives are met.
- Regularly review and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.

**- Staff Management**:

- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to senior managers and staff, promoting professional development and a positive work environment.
- Ensure effective communication and alignment across teams.

**- Risk and Compliance**:

- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks to safeguard the organization’s assets and reputation.

**- Reporting and Collaboration**:

- Report on operational performance and strategic progress to the CEO.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to drive organizational success.

**Key Qualifications**:

- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role, ideally within a non-profit, community-based, or mission-driven organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage diverse teams and oversee multiple functional areas.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Experience with financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of HR, IT, and facilities management best practices.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of YWCA Halifax.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to equity and inclusion at an organizational and systemic level.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to issues impacting women and gender diverse people with nuanced awareness of women from equity deserving groups.
- Champion for social justice and community wellness.
