**SALARY**: $83,452 annually

($42.65 per hour - 2021 Rate)

The City of New Westminster is seeking a journeyperson Meter Technician for the Electrical Operations department. In this position you will provide technical and administration expertise in all aspects of revenue metering, installation and maintenance of approximately 37,050 installed revenue meters. Some duties include: the installation, removal and testing of meters, making necessary connections between secondary terminals of instrument transformers and associated meters and the disconnection and reconnection of delinquent accounts as required.

**If you have the following characteristics and qualifications, we want to hear from you**
- Valid Trades Qualification certificate in the Meter Technician trade (Journeyperson Meter Technician level) or certified Electrician with multiple years of metering experience.
- Minimum of 5 years related experience in the metering field.
- Sound experience and knowledge in the installation and maintenance of all revenue metering, including ‘A’ and ‘S’ base meters, including single phase, poly phase and all associated metering transformers and wiring.
- Sound knowledge of the policies and practices as it relates to Electric Utility, including Measurement Canada Regulations.
- Thorough knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to the work.
- Good mechanical aptitude, physical coordination and manual dexterity
- The physical strength, stamina and coordination to perform all tasks associated with the work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to maintain accurate meter related records and documents.
- Ability to resolve issues and demonstrate strong strategic and analytical skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people at all levels both inside and outside the organization; and to employ contemporary service excellence principles.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- Valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia. Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement is an asset.
