Temporary Full-Time Educational Assistant
**Location**: CIS - Akram Jomaa Campus

Located in the City of Calgary and supporting grades K to 12, CIS - Akram Jomaa Campus is currently looking to hire a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Educational Assistant to fill a Temporary, Full-Time Educational Assistant position starting September 10, 2024, (or date mutually agreeable). At the Calgary Islamic School - Akram Jomaa Campus, over 1000 students are in attendance. The student population is highly diverse and many students originate from Middle Eastern and South Asian countries. Students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and are highly motivated to learn and achieve their academic and religious goals. Students at CIS have a variety of learning needs and many students are English Language Learners (ELL). Students are actively involved in extra-curricular activities after school and many co-curricular activities within school. Finally, successful students at CIS are accomplished learners who embody excellence in character and devotion to their religion.

**Qualifications**:
Completion of a recognized post-secondary certificate or recognized vocational certificate in Special Education, Educational Assistant, Child Care/Development demonstrated successful practicum experience working with students and children with complex needs
Other equivalent combinations of directly related education and directly related experience may also be considered
Strong understanding of diverse learners and learning challenges
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificates (Child CPR Certificate is a strong asset)

**Responsibilities**:
Ensures client safety, personal safety and safety of others
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
**Student Support**: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
**Instructional Assistance**: Collaborate with teachers to adapt lesson plans, instructional materials, and teaching techniques to meet the needs of students with diverse learning abilities.
**Behavioural Support**: Implement behaviour management strategies as outlined in individual education plans (IEPs), providing consistent support to help students develop positive behaviours.
**Physical Assistance**: Assist students with personal care, mobility, and other physical needs as required, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the school day.
**Communication**: Facilitate effective communication between students and teachers, keeping all parties informed of student progress and any challenges that arise.
**Documentation**: Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and any incidents, and participate in IPP meetings and other collaborative planning sessions.
**Classroom Environment**: Help create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and learning.
Performs other related duties as required.
