- The mission of the Department of Medical Neuroscience is to foster research and training in neuroscience that advances the understanding and treatment of diseases of the nervous system. Reporting to the Manager, Human Donation Program, the Anatomy Laboratory Technician is responsible for the technical and teaching support for the teaching laboratories and other resources in the Department, including all aspects of the Human Body Program.**Key Responsibilities**
- Prepares prosections and helps dissect, ensuring correct numbering and storage.
- As directed, sets up gross and/or teaching laboratories and classroom with required materials (full body, prosections, brains, technical equipment, and microscopes, etc.) Trouble shoots technical difficulties. Is present at the beginning of classes to ensure instructors and students have all materials needed.
- Regular maintenance, organization and cleanliness of the dissecting a teaching laboratories, clinical simulation lab and classrooms, preparation room, morgue and museum/resource centre; cleans up after each use of these facilities.
- On an annual basis, and as directed by the Manager, contacts crematorium, clergy and church personnel to assist with the preparations for the Human Body programme’s interment service. Attends and actively participates in service, ensuring that all cemetery preparations are in place in time for the service, checks for maintenance of plot site, tidying as necessary.**Note**
- Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.**Required Qualifications**
- Three to five years’ experience working in the deathcare industry or an anatomy lab setting (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Dissection or similar experience requiring precision and detailed work.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to work with students and faculty, as well as ability to function as part of the team that supports gross anatomy teaching.
