Job description
**The Maintenance Department is currently seeking a maintenance assistant to join their team at The Moores Wearhouse Distribution Center in Cambridge Canada. This position will perform a wide variety of maintenance activities related to automated assembly equipment, machinery, and systems that directly support production operations.**
**Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Maintenance assistant will assist with the following**
**- Assist with/must be willing to learn : Troubleshoot, diagnose, assemble, repair and maintain equipment, machinery and systems related to both automated and manual production equipment typically found in a Retail Distribution Center**
**- Assist with/Learn how to do: hands-on major and minor repairs and maintenance of material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, rolling racks, automated and mechanical conveyors, slick rail, compressors, electrical and lighting panels, and other related plant equipment**
**- Operate and use manual tools and powered-shop machinery and tools to maintain a wide variety of automated and manual equipment and machinery for proper functionality**
**- Repair and maintenance of material handling equipment and knowledge of mechanical operations for motor driven equipment**
**- Maintain equipment, parts, tools, and supplies inventories in the maintenance shop**
**- Demonstrated mechanical skills and technical aptitude**
**Qualifications**:
**Minimum grade 12**
**Must possess a valid drivers license**

**Must be able to speak, read, and understand English for purposes of performing necessary job duties**
**- Some mechanical background experience/ we are willing to train the right person**
**- Familiarity with various hand and electric tools**
**- Detail-oriented and ability to meet deadlines**
**- Problem solving and analytical skills required**
**- Ability to work safely by following all maintenance department’s standard operating procedures**
**- Ability to work alone and in a team environment**
**- Ability to work in a production warehouse environment with exposure to various climate conditions (warm, cold, heat) and under stressful conditions such as small and high spaces with the following repetitive physical demands: continuous standing, walking, sitting, use of hands and fingers, grasping, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting.**
Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Cambridge, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
**Experience**:
- Maintenance: 2 years (preferred)
- Facilities maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
- Preventative maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
- Tools: 1 year (preferred)
