**Role**

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Consultant is responsible for assisting clients with enforcing and managing their Health and Safety programs on sites, ensuring that they are compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) within the Regulations for Construction Projects. This is accomplished through workplace inspections with recommendations, training, safety meetings and other methods.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

**Consulting and Development**
- Assist clients with all aspects of Health and Safety services
- Develop policies, safe work practices and procedures that meet OHSA requirements
- Perform regular observations of all work areas to ensure physical conditions and behavioral conformance, provide observation reports to the appropriate channel
- Conduct trends analysis through continuous observations and reports and then using the information to prevent accidents

**Investigations and Prevention**
- Conduct incident/accident investigations, determine the causes and develop recommendations to prevent future occurrences
- Follow-up on implemented preventative and corrective measures to ensure accuracy and effectiveness
- Review corrective actions for non-conformance with site management in accordance of company policies, applicable regulations, and best practices

**Training and Communication**
- Conduct worker orientation with client’s worker/trades and relevant persons involved to review safety programs and procedures
- Conduct Safety Meetings (“tool-box talks) as requested by the client
- Provide Health and Safety awareness training when necessary

**Skills and Requirements**
- 1-3 years’ experience within the Construction industry, Health and Safety preferred
- Occupational Health and Safety Degree, Diploma, or Certificate an asset
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (“Green Book”) and relevant regulations e.g. Construction Projects
- Ability to work independently with little direction as well as in a team setting
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written skills in both English and French
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills
- Valid Class G Driver’s License
- Reliable vehicle is a must

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
