Due to a promotion, we are currently seeking a full-time **Maintenance Lead Hand **at our Winnipeg, Manitoba facility

The primary role of Maintenance Lead Hand is to work in partnership with the Supervisor to maintain set schedules by clearly communicating work assignments to team; assisting team; planning; monitoring and reviewing results; educating and coaching.

**This position is an afternoon shift with a schedule of 2:00 pm to 12:30 am from Sunday through Wednesday**.**

**_KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS: _**
**Preventive Maintenance/ Operations**
- Back-up for Supervisor in their absence
- Scheduling and preparation for annual inspections
- Responsible for ensuring adequate shift coverage
- Ensure logbooks are filled out accurately
- Perform preventive maintenance as per program requirements
- Respond appropriately to emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment to reduce manufacturing machine downtime
- Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Communicate as necessary with 3rd party contractors
- Knowledge of all equipment operations and production process
- Communicates with Supervisor daily with regards to schedule of work orders requirements, completion target dates based on priority, current workload, parts requirements, and production scheduling.
- Daily on the floor supervision of teams.
- Communicate with all team members and other Departments to ensure understanding of daily requirements and any issues that may affect completion.
- Assist with development of work schedule for required major planned downtime on equipment.
- Other duties as assigned

- Develop and maintain a team-based work environment by providing leadership, direction, coaching, training, and clear and consistent communication.
- Coordinates staff required to efficiently complete operational processes within operations. Consults with Supervisor as required. I.E. directing staff, work scheduling, employee relations.
- Ensure a respectful, safe, and healthy work environment.

**Safety & Environment**
- Foster safe work practices by enforcing standard safety procedures and as required develop and implement practical recommendations for safety practices.

**Continuous Improvement**
- Recommend measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of processes and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency.

**COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills, Ability)**
- Demonstrates leadership ability and interpersonal skills, create a team environment, and drive employee productivity and competence.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to communicate one-on-one and in group settings.
- Focus on quality including the adherence to Quality Policy and standard operating procedures that create department efficiencies.
- Problem solver with good analytical skills and the ability to trouble shoot as the need arises. Involves staff in the decision-making process.
- Able to work various shifts as required by the department.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum 3rd Class Engineer Certification.
- Technical diploma, and/or a degree in engineering field, trade license, or equivalent combination is an asset
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing work experience in the trade. Food industry experience preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years in a team lead/supervisory role.
- Highly organized with excellent time management/priority setting skills, knows how to make the right decisions.
- Experience in a culturally diverse work environment.
- Solid technical and maintenance background to perform various maintenance activities.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Solid experience in maintaining and improving on preventive and ongoing maintenance programs.
- Background in PLC programming an asset.
- Physical strength and stamina to complete maintenance and repair work
- Flexibility to respond to issues outside of regular working hours.
- Previous exposure to working with Computerized Maintenance Management System and Enterprise / Manufacturing Resource Planning systems.
