**Overall job objectives**

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Food Preparation**:

- Wash, peel, and chop vegetables and fruits.
- Slice meats and cheeses.
- Prepare and portion ingredients.
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines accurately.

**Inventory Management**:

- Monitor inventory levels, shelf lives, implement FIFO, craft reports, and ensure all necessary ingredients and supplies are stocked.
- Manage and document inventory waste by implementing effective inventory control procedures.
- Place orders with suppliers to maintain adequate stock levels, and receive orders delivered.
- Organize and maintain a clean and organized inventory storage system.

**Kitchen Organization, Hygiene, and Food Safety**:

- Ensure the preparations kitchen is organized and maintained according to safety and hygiene standards.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff on proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure food preparation tasks are done efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Set kitchen staff schedules.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen and equipment to ensure cleanliness and functionality.

**Qualifications**:

- Proven experience in a kitchen supervisory or similar role.
- Proven experience in a kitchen food preparation role.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability and knowledge to manage inventory, waste, and control costs effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent; local culinary training and certification (Food Handler) is a plus.
