The Laboratory Assistant II (LA II) is responsible for providing leadership, supervision and guidance to the specimen logistics teams. The LA II is responsible for coordinating general department operations, including scheduling, and coordination of training. The LA II is also responsible to provide feedback for performance reviews, to problem-solve, to respond to customer concerns, and to function as a liaison between the Provincial Laboratory and its internal and external customers while promoting and maintaining strong partnerships. The LA II participates in the Quality Management Program, including entering information in quality reports.

**Description**:
As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will be responsible for pre-analytical specimen handling, transport, accessioning, processing and storage. You will also be responsible for responding to inquiries, cleaning, monitoring and preventative maintenance of lab equipment and work areas, maintaining common supplies, updating inventories and data sheets and participating in lab quality and safety requirements.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Minimum 1 year working in a large microbiology laboratory environment. Recent experience in a leadership role within a laboratory environment. Advanced Epic Beaker laboratory information system experience.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Experience with quality accreditations, in particular preparation for internal and external auditing. Familiarity with pre-analytic quality monitoring.
