The **Creating Opportunities Strategy** is a Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre program targeted to low-income individuals with multiple barriers to employment. The program is designed to meet each individual where they currently sit on the pre-employment spectrum. There are three streams (pathways) in the Creating Opportunities Program: Learning Pathway, Experience Pathway, and Transitions Pathway.

The **Learning Pathway **is designed to provide participants with basic life skills and to strengthen their capacity for change through short-term workshops and sessions. The **Workplace Experience Pathway **is a 16-week job placement program which runs three sessions annually. It is designed to support participants who require hands-on workplace skills and experience to gain competitive employment. The **Transitions Pathway **provides coaching and further training to participants of the other two pathways to support their transition to the workplace.

**JOB PURPOSE**

The Transitions Pathway Facilitator supports participants in the Creating Opportunities Strategy by providing career coaching, job search assistance, and resources for skill development. This position works closely with participants to help them transition from the program into sustainable employment or further education. The Transitions Pathway Facilitator collaborates with other program staff and external partners to ensure participants receive the necessary support and resources to achieve their goals.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Career Coaching and Job Search Assistance**:

- Provide one-on-one career coaching to participants, assisting them in identifying their skills, strengths, and interests and guiding them in their job search process.
- Help participants develop effective job search strategies, including resume writing, interview preparation, networking, and utilizing online job search resources.
- Collaborate and maintain relationships with local employers and educational institutions to identify and share job and educational opportunities with participants.

**Skill Development and Workshops**:

- Develop and facilitate workshops on topics such as job search strategies, resume writing, interview techniques, networking, and career planning.
- Coordinate with external partners to provide additional skill development opportunities and resources for participants, such as job-specific training and certifications.
- Assess and update workshop content to ensure relevance and alignment with current labour market trends and participant needs.

**Goal Setting and Action Planning**:

- Assist participants in setting realistic short-term and long-term career goals and developing personalized action plans.
- Monitor and evaluate participants' progress toward their goals, adjusting action plans as needed and providing ongoing support.

**Communication and Collaboration**:

- Work closely with other Creating Opportunities Strategy program staff to provide comprehensive participant support, sharing information and resources as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local employers, educational institutions, and community partners to facilitate successful transitions for participants.
- Assist in creating promotional material for the Communications team to be shared on the SFBLC website and social media.

**Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting**:

- Collect and maintain participant progress and outcomes documentation, sharing information with relevant staff and partners.
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the Transitions Pathway and provide reports to the Program Manager and other stakeholders as required.
- Contribute to funding reports and outcome tracking.

**Other Duties**:

- Contribute to an inclusive environment in which clients, staff, and volunteers are treated with respect.
- Other duties as required to contribute to the mission of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., education, social work, social sciences) or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
- Experience in workforce/career development, employment counselling, coaching, or a related field is desirable.
- Knowledge of local labour market trends, employment barriers, and resources available to support job seekers.
- Experience supporting people with multiple and complex barriers to employment.
