Essential Job Functions
A member of the Legal Department, the Contracts Manager leads the contract function of the organization and is responsible to provide leadership and guidance to the contract administrators. They are responsible for ensuring that the contracts entered into by the organization adequately capture the parties’ intent, protect the Company’s interest and comply with all applicable laws.
Responsibilities for Contract Manager:
- Lead the Company’s Contracts Team
- Analyze the risks to the business inherent in various types of contracts and propose mitigation strategies
- Liaise with internal stakeholders in order to ensure that contracts are reviewed and approved in accordance with the Company’s internal policies
- Develop and maintain guidelines, checklists and other resources for use by the Contracts Team
- Ensure that contracts are in line with corporate goals and objectives
- Ensure all contracts are appropriately entered into the Organization’s contract management system
- Draft contract templates
- Work with internal stakeholders to promote the use of Company’s own standard templates when transacting with third parties
- Train other contract professionals
- Provide advice and guidance to various teams relating to contract generation and interpretation
- Maintain excellent working relationships with clients to ensure their needs are met
- Implement performance metrics for the department
- Create, prepare, review and edit all contracts
- Monitor contracts, and moving forward with extension, close-out, or renewal of contracts
- Add improvements to existing company contract policies to ensure compliance and reduce any potential risks
- Prepares reports on the status of contracts for various departments
- Conducts special projects as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree, law clerk certification or relevant experience in a corporate legal setting preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Contract Manager
- Experience with contracting processing tools, workflow management and reporting
- Excellent persuasion, negotiation, and judgment skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities and exemplify creative problem-solving abilities
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with multiple stakeholders
- Exceptional drafting and proof-reading skills
- Ability to work independently, plan and take initiative to accomplish objectives in a timely manner with mínimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet deadlines while juggling competing demands for time and resources
- Work well independently as well as part of a team
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality when interfacing with company personnel and external parties
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with SharePoint and contract management software is an asset
