Audit Program Coordinator
**JOB SUMMARY**
Chicken Farmers of Nova Scotia (CFNS) is the farmer-run commodity board that administers the supply management system for the Nova Scotia chicken industry. One of the Board’s key responsibilities is managing the national On Farm Food Safety and Animal Care audit programs (OFFSP/ACP). Every producer (100+) is audited every year. The Audit Program Coordinator will train as a program auditor and coordinate the program as its Delivery Agent:
- Schedule audits with farmers
- Complete follow up documentation/data entry, maintain statistics on certification activities
- Issue program certification
- Liaise with Chicken Farmers of Canada
- Conduct on-farm audits
In addition, the Program Coordinator will coordinate the Small Flock Production Program for smaller producers:
- Track & report production data
- Conduct on-farm small flock inspections
The CFNS office is small and “other duties as assigned” can mean everything from representing CFNS at promotional events to filling in to take minutes at a meeting.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
To train as an OFFSP/ACP auditor, you must have one of the following combinations of education/experience:
- 2 years post secondary education in agriculture with 2 years experience in the agricultural industry.
- 2 years post secondary education, not in agriculture, with 3 years experience in the agricultural industry.
- No post secondary education with 5 years experience in the agricultural industry.
**Communication Skills**
As the Program Coordinator, you will be communicating with various stakeholders - producers, Chicken Farmers of Canada, government representatives - and your interpersonal skills will be critical to your success. Auditors must be comfortable with potentially uncomfortable conversations and able to communicate corrective actions clearly and fairly. You will also need to be able to write clearly and concisely to prepare audit reports, program updates, and other business communications.
**Organization & Attention to Detail**
CFNS is a regulatory Board and the OFFSP/ACP programs are critical to meeting our commitments to the public. You will need to adhere to guidelines and deadlines and make sure your documentation is in order when the national program representatives come to audit CFNS.
**Technology**
**Assets**
These are not requirements, but would be nice to have:
- Experience in the broiler industry
- Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) training/certification
- Previous experience in auditing or compliance roles
- Experience in program coordination/management/administration
