Official Internal Job Title External Claims Adjuster Status: Regular Job Description: - Summary of Role & Responsibilities: - Adjust property claims and/or complete task assignments via face to face on-site contact. - Provide assistance to policyholders and broker partners by explaining the claims process and policy coverage - Investigate and collect relevant information (statements, police reports, etc.) in order to analyze and facilitate the claim. - Thoroughly document activity in OPUS. - Negotiate with the various parties involved to ensure costs are controlled. - Propose fair settlement amounts while adhering to company quality standards and policies - Act as a resource and provide support to the Claims Team. - Complete broker visits to enhance the claims/broker relationship. - Arrange for and liaise with contractors, SIU and other experts as required. - Work with direct supervision, within given authority. - Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Attributes: - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Excellent negotiation, investigation and interpersonal skills - Strong organizational and planning skills - Demonstrate willingness for continuous improvement - Solid knowledge of claims policies and standards - Proficiency with computer systems (i.e., Microsoft Products) is an asset - Education & Experience: - University or College preferred - Working towards/ completion of CIP Designation - Working towards/ completion of IICRC/RIA designations - 3-5 years Property Claims handling experience - Valid "G class" Driver's License required (*will be required to provide Driver's Abstract) - What We Offer - Award winning culture - Flexible hybrid working conditions (1 day in the office per week) - Group Benefits from first day - Defined Benefits pension plan - Generous time off benefits - Growth opportunities - #LI-Hybrid - #LI-ENG - L'Unique and Unica are equal opportunity employers, so we encourage all Women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous people as well as visible and ethnic minorities to apply._ Follow us on LinkedIn
