**Days Inn Ottawa - Maintenance Technician**
**Department**: Maintenance & Engineering

**Scope**:
**Primary Responsibilities**:
**General Maintenance & Repairs**
- Perform routine maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and hotel facilities, including plumbing, electrical issue observations, carpentry, and painting.
- Diagnose and repair issues related to door locks, fixtures, furniture, and appliances.
- Replace or repair wallpaper, drywall, ceiling tiles, and other finishes as needed.
- Maintain and repair hotel equipment to ensure uninterrupted guest services.

**Preventive Maintenance**
- Conduct regular inspections of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Schedule and complete preventive maintenance tasks to avoid costly breakdowns.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance work performed.

**Work Order Management**
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel departments.
- Prioritize urgent repairs to minimize guest inconvenience.
- Ensure all work orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

**Inventory & Ordering**
- Maintain proper inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Place orders for parts and materials as needed, ensuring cost-effective purchasing.
- Keep detailed logs of supplies used and items replaced.

**Safety & Compliance**
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with hotel policies and local regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, and evacuation procedures.
- Assist in emergency situations such as power outages, floods, or equipment failures.

**Communication & Coordination**
- Coordinate with the Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Management to address guest concerns quickly.
- Provide regular updates to the General Manager regarding maintenance priorities, completed work, and pending repairs.
- Communicate effectively with outside contractors when specialized repairs are required.

**Guest Interaction**
- Respond politely and professionally to guest inquiries regarding maintenance issues.
- Ensure guest satisfaction by resolving problems promptly and thoroughly.

**Additional Duties**
- Assist with snow removal, landscaping, and seasonal upkeep of the property.
- Support special projects and hotel renovations when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel, residential, or commercial maintenance.
- Proven skills in plumbing, painting, door lock repair, wallpapering, and general building upkeep.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and work order tracking.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environments (indoors, outdoors, heights).
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Excellent communication skills in English; French proficiency is an asset.
- Professional appearance and demeanor in line with the Days Inn brand.

**Schedule**:
Full-time, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet operational needs.
