Junior Smt Technician

SMT technicians set up, monitor, maintain, and adjust high tech machines used to create electronic circuits with surface mount technology (SMT) and through hole technology (THT).

We train you from the ground up: giving you opportunities to grow into a role running circuit board building machines like paste printers, pick and place, reflow, oddform, wave, selective solder, and manufacturing lines.

**Reports to**: primary Head Technician; also Director, Manufacturing Operations

**We need**:

- Attention to detail: understanding that many electronic components look similar, an ability to reliably ensure proper parts and quantities per work order instructions.
- Problem-Solving: learning to test and understand a problem, making logical conclusions and improvements.
- Mechanical aptitude: understanding basic machine mechanics or willing to learn.
- Focus under production pressures.
- Knowing what you don’t know.

**Additional Assets to Tell Us About**:

- Wave solder experience (would be highly sought).
- Pick and place experience (would be highly sought).
- Paste printing experience.
- Selective solder experience.
- Experience working with machines.

**Initial Responsibilities**:

- Check circuit board build kits.
- Unbox components and refill components, feeders, etc.
- Learn CNI build philosophy from Head Technician.
- Help as needed by Head Technician.

**Opportunities for Advancement**:

- Operate and program pick and place machines as defined and within limits established for Technician.
- Document and perform process optimizations.
- Operate paste printing equipment; including setup, tear down and running, per established procedures.
- Operate and set up of reflow ovens, per established procedures.
- Learn assembly line communication between machines (SMEMA).
- Operate and balance multiple production lines.
- Operate, maintain, and program selective solder machines.
- Cross-train on wave solder machines.
- CNI is an IPC-Class 2 facility. We work to IPC-610 workmanship standards. We require employees to follow various ESD, safety, and ISO guidelines.

**Minimum Educational Qualifications**:

- Minimum high school education or GED

**Minimum Previous Experience**:

- Previous experience in circuit boards an asset, but we expect to train you from the ground up. Being a technician on these machines is an interesting, technical career.

**Other Skills**:

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must have the ability to work efficiently and work well in a team environment.
- Must be punctual and have good attendance.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $41,600.00-$43,680.00 per year
