**As an Area Maintenance Superintendent, You Will**:
- Be responsible for the overall supervision of the patrols within the AMC
- Ensure the deadlines, terms and conditions and the performance requirements are being met
- Provide guidance and in partnership with the Patrol Foreperson, manager, develop and coordinate patrol budgets.
- Establish winter materials tracking methods that allow for post storm review and remediation
- Identify requirements and negotiate subcontract agreements, including equipment and personnel.
- Partner with the project staff in the estimating and pricing of “work order” and “preservation capital” work for the client
- Utilize existing contract resources as a framework to explore new opportunities and negotiate additional contracts to expand existing customer base
- Liaise with the client on contract administration on business issues such as contract adherence, quality and staffing
- In collaboration with the Operations Manager:
- Develop macro contract scheduling to assess the timing and procurement of labour, equipment and materials required in the performance of the contract
- Recruit, coach, supervise, develop and performance manage the staff
- Ensure there is timely and ongoing training of staff in the areas of health and safety, equipment operation and emergency response
- Monitor, analyze and identify improvements for - equipment usage, costs, requirements and acquisition
- Monitor overall financial performance of the contract with recommendations on:
- Actual versus forecasted costs
- Operational efficiencies
- Prepare monthly status reports
- Be champion to “Living Goal Zero” by promoting, leading, and executing a Safety-First culture for all stakeholders in compliance with Miller Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) polices and ensure contractual HSE obligation for the staff and public are met
- Support an inclusive employee relationship culture and is accountable for adherence to policies that ensure a respectful and inclusive work environment
- Build and maintain a strong functional tam through instruction, training, coaching and team building
- Other duties as required
**What You'll Bring**:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
- Experience in highway maintenance and/or road construction project management considered an asset
- Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Post
- secondary degree/diploma in a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated supervisory, communication, organizational, negotiation and coordination skills
- Exceptional people management, team building and motivational skills.
- Delivering accurate and detailed information and products under tight timelines
- Ability to communicate effectively with above average writing skills
- Must maintain a valid Class G Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel, may include but not limited to visiting various patrol yards, in the field monitoring operations, etc
- Demonstrated knowledge of OTM Book 7 traffic control
- Must be available to be on call periodically which may include weekends and/or night shifts
- Good understanding of Ministry of Transportation Policies, Procedures and Standards
- Experience in Microsoft Office, ability to learn and operate other internal systems as required
