We are looking for an experienced Animal Care Assistant

We are looking for applicants with strong communication, strong work ethics and can work well in a team environment.

Applicants will assist in looking after and socializing, mostly cats in a shelter environment. This includes cleaning, medicating, feeding and general care. Some administration duties will also be required. We are looking for caring individuals with some animal care experience in a shelter or vet environment. Preference will be given to individuals with Vet Tech, Vet Assistant or work in an animal care facility. Hours will be approximately 30-35 hours per week, will include weekend hours. - Part-time, Permanent
- Part-time hours: 30 per week
- Starting wage is $18.02 per hour

A typical day:

- Feeding and cleaning of our cats
- Ensuring a healthy environment through general housekeeping, disinfection protocols, laundry duties and cage cleaning.
- Support animal health by performing vaccinations and routine overall health checks.
- Maintaining animal charts, recording information and communicating any concerns with shelter manager or shelter coordinator.
- Greeting any people who enter the shelter and communicate with them. Inform potential adopters about the cats in our care.
- Process any adoptions into shelter software.

Do you have what it takes?
- Excellent communication skills
- Team Player
- Ability to lift 18 kg (40 lbs)
- Valid G licence
- Open availability including weekdays, weekends, holidays
- Customer service experience an asset
- Certificate or College Diploma in Animal Care or working towards, preferred.
