**(Part time to start with, leading to full-time permanent positions)**

Alphabet Daycare is a Reggio-based childcare facility in Red Deer. We implement the Alberta curriculum framework, Flight, and provide children with an inspiring and stimulating environment to investigate and to explore. Children grow, learn and develop through fun experiences.

We are now inviting passionate and professional educators to fill the positions in our **Kinder room and OSC room**. Applicants for the OSC position must possess **a minimum of Level 2**and be able to work according to the OSC schedule. This position involves both working with children inside the classroom and driving children between daycare and schools. A guarantee of 8 hours shift on non-school days and staff benefit after three months probation will be offered.

Knowledge of the Alberta curriculum framework Flight is preferred. Job duties include planning activities based on children's interests and development, making observation records, and cleaning, etc. Teamwork, good communication skills and a positive attitude are important.

**Shift**:
Monday to Friday (8 hours per day)

**Responsibilities**:

- drive the daycare vehicles to provide transportation for children that attend schools in the neighborhood (the OSC position)
- work according to the OSC schedule (the OSC position)
- Plan and carry out activities based on children’s interests and needs
- Conduct observations and make reports of observation to identify interests and needs of children
- Record children’s play and development and be ready to report to parents and supervisors
- Maintain effective communications with parents
- Maintain a safe, warm and caring atmosphere within the room
- Monitor the daily routines of the room
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the room

**Qualifications**:
Applicants should meet the following requirements:

- Childcare certificate **Level 1, 2 or 3 for the kinder group position, Level 2 or above for the OSC position**:

- Must have or willing to obtain **Driver License Class 4 / Class 5 (for the OSC position)**:

- Knowledge of the FLIGHT curriculum preferred
- Abilities to plan activities based on children’s interests and needs
- Physically and mentally fit enough to work with children
- Ability to work within a multi-cultural group and with children of diversified abilities
- Experience with early childcare, especially in the out of school care session, preferred
- Great understanding of children with a diversity of needs
- Knowledge of developmental stages of different age groups
- Ability to carry out positive guidance strategies
- willing to handle challenging behaviors
- Strong communication skills and able to develop strong relationships with families
- Abilities to work alongside other educators and employees as a team.
- First-Aid Training
- Criminal Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Children Intervention Check

Pay: $17.14-$27.13 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
