**About Us**:
We are a dynamic company with two divisions: a leading roofing contractor and a sister company specializing in metal manufacturing. We are committed to achieving the highest standards of safety and operational excellence. We are seeking a dedicated Safety Manager to spearhead our efforts in obtaining and maintaining COR (Certificate of Recognition) and OIRCA (Ontario Industrial Roofing Contractors Association) certification for both divisions.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Safety Program Development:
Design, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive health and safety programs aligned with COR and OIRCA standards for both the roofing and metal manufacturing divisions.
- Training & Compliance:
Conduct regular training sessions on fall protection, WHMIS, Working at Heights, and other relevant safety protocols. Ensure all staff are up-to-date with certifications and safety practices.
- Audits & Inspections:
Lead internal and external safety audits. Prepare for and facilitate OIRCA safety evaluations and COR audits, ensuring all documentation meets the required standards.
- Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of safety meetings, training sessions, incident reports, and audit results. Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Continuous Improvement:
Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and industry best practices. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance workplace safety.
HR Support:
Assist with HR duties, including onboarding, training coordination, and maintaining employee safety records.
- S134 Testing Preparation:
Collaborate with the metal manufacturing division to prepare for S134 testing, ensuring all safety protocols and documentation are in place.
- Qualifications:
Proven experience in a safety management role within the roofing or construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction Regulations, and industry-specific safety standards.
Experience in preparing for and achieving COR and OIRCA certification.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Certification in health and safety (e.g., CRSP, NCSO) is preferred.
**Responsibilities**
- Manage the certification process from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to all relevant standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop and implement testing protocols for new products.
- Conduct thorough reviews of blueprints and technical documents to ensure compliance with certification requirements.
- Supervise the certification team, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Perform hands-on tasks such as caulking, heavy lifting, and using hand tools to assist in product testing and evaluation.
- Maintain accurate records of certifications, audits, and compliance documentation.
- Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and advancements in certification processes.
**Qualifications**
- Proven experience in a managerial role within a certification or quality assurance environment.
- Strong skills in blueprint reading and understanding technical specifications.
- Proficiency with hand tools and experience in carpentry or maintenance person tasks is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the job duties.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.
