This company is Canada's largest distributor and vertically integrated manufacturer of products and services supporting the Abrasives Blasting and Construction Materials industry for over 40 years. With several acquisitions over the past 24 months, this company is currently undergoing a large growth phase and needs an HR Generalist to join its team
The HR Generalist will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating human resource strategies including policies, programs, and procedures to address the organization's human resource requirements. This individual will be a spirited and detail-oriented people-person who is looking to develop their skills and gain incredible experience.
This role will support the development and creation of human resource policies, in some cases from scratch and some revisions. This person will support the development of HR programs to position this company as an employer of choice. This will include, health & safety programs and initiatives, co-op and summer student programs, handbooks, social committees, and all sorts of fun projects to put into development

**Responsibilities**:
- Revision, creation, and implementation of Human Resource policies and procedures ensuring they are up to date at all times
- Adviser to employer and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, legislation, compensation, and benefit programs
- Research and prepare job descriptions, salary scales and competency appraisal measures and systems
- Provide HR Support to the Western offices (Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary, & Vancouver) by traveling approximately 4 times per year to these locations
- Plan and administer staffing, total compensation, training and career development, employee assistance, and employment equity programs
- Manage programs and maintain human resources information and related records systems
- Co-ordinate employee performance appraisal programs and OKR’s (objectives & key results)
- Assist in organizing Health & Safety and Social committee meetings
- Research employee benefits and health and safety practices and recommend changes or modifications to existing policies.
- Manage and monitor performance-related issues and implement changes that could increase productivity
- Hire and oversee training of staff
- Handle termination-related matters and prepare termination and severance letters
- Be well-versed in employment laws and regulations regarding hiring and termination
**Skills and Experience**:
- Ability to travel approximately 4 times a year to Western offices (Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver)
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in related field; Business Administration, Human Resources
- 1-3+ years experience in a similar HR Generalist role; interest in development internally in HR
- Previous experience in Dayforce HR software, time carding systems an asset
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- A team player who is positive, bright, and detail-oriented
**Compensation**:
- Full-time, permanent
- Ability to work full-time in-office in Hamilton; the potential for a hybrid model is possible over time
