Families 1st has been operating specialized, community homes in Ontario for many years for adult individuals with **complex special needs **who are often **dual diagnosed**. We create specialized, individual services that support the independence, inclusion, and dignity of the individuals we service and support.
We are currently looking for a Shift Leader who will work closely with Supervisors and Management to supervise, schedule, and direct the Support Workers on staff. They also provide supervision to clients and will be hands-on with programming and day-to-day activities to ensure compliance to the BSP (Behavior Support Plan).
**Responsibilities**:
- Hold staff accountable for demonstrating professionalism and consistently behaving in a manner that shows dignity, compassion and respect for clients and all other persons.
- Provide appropriate direction and support to front-line staff, ensure the health and safety of staff and clients, ensure compliance to the Health and Safety and Abuse Prevention policies.
- Ensure that QAM, Behavioural and Crisis Protocols are documented and consistently followed.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely incident reports, documentation, daily reports, log books and data sheets, and time sheets.
- Ensure that Behavior Support Plans, QAM requirements, organizational policies and the required SMG training are in place and properly utilized.
- Quickly identify, isolate and effectively manage issues and mitigate risks.
- Actively take part in programming along with, direct and personal client care.
- Use creativity and resourcefulness to ensure quality of life principals are effectively applied for clients.
- Ensure the work area and residence (inside and outside) is clean, tidy, properly maintained, safe, healthy and secure.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma from a recognized college or university (i.e. Social Service Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker)
- 4+ years of related experience (preferably supporting adults with complex developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, dual-diagnosis, Mental illness, Schizophrenic spectrum disorders, etc.)
- Current CPR/First Aid Certificate
- Acceptable results from Vulnerable Sector Screening and Criminal Background Checks.
- Ability to lead teams, supervise, coach and direct work.
- Ability to work collaboratively, respectfully and professionally within an interdisciplinary team as well as the ability to function independently with clients.
- Demonstrated self-motivation, self-direction, initiative and a positive attitude.
- Flexibility, decisiveness and adaptability to respond appropriately to constantly changing program needs and crisis situations.
- Strong administration skills along with effective written and oral communication skills including accurate report writing skills.
