**Job Summary**

The Operator Team Leader plays a key leadership role within the Operations Department. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for directing and monitoring the work of two direct reports: the Operator On Road Supervisor and the Operator Training Supervisor. These roles, under the guidance of the Team Leader, are essential to the effective supervision and training of front-line Operators and the achievement of departmental goals.

The Operator Team Leader ensures alignment between operational performance, service quality, and employee development. Working collaboratively with senior leadership, the Team Leader contributes to goal setting and strategy development, fosters a culture of safety and accountability, and supports continuous improvement across the Operator workforce.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide leadership, coaching, and daily oversight to the Operator On Road Supervisor and Operator Training Supervisor.
- Monitor performance of direct reports, ensuring effective supervision of Operators and adherence to company policies.
- Participate in staffing activities for supervisory positions and support onboarding and orientation efforts.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and the Operations Manager to oversee the performance appraisal and professional development of DARTS Operators.
- Investigate and follow up on Operator incident reports and implement appropriate actions.
- Lead performance management efforts of Operators, including regular evaluations and progressive discipline when required.
- Liaise with internal departments (e.g., Service Coordination, Scheduling, Call Centre) and external partners (e.g., subcontractors) to address Operator-related issues.
- Support WSIB claims management and modified return-to-work processes.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies.
- Contribute to the development and execution of department goals, initiatives, and process improvements.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Job Specifications**
- Supervisory or management experience is required.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in a dynamic, operational environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on positive interaction and relationship-building.
- Proven ability to empower and motivate team members to achieve their best performance.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of the geographical layout of the City of Hamilton and surrounding areas.
- Technically proficient with computers, including Microsoft Windows and data entry systems.
- Experience in transit or specialized transit operations is an asset.
- Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Must have a full G driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract, a clean vulnerable sector check, and pass an employee fit test.
- Post-secondary education is preferred.
