**ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES**

This is a leadership role with a focus on continual performance improvement, career development and progression of the accounting team. The team will look to the Controller to:

- Manage, monitor, and streamline the day-to-day operations of the accounting function including A/R, A/P, Order Desk, Payroll and financial reporting
- Oversee effective and timely month-end and year-end close process, including ownership of the general ledger, preparation of department variance analysis, COGS analysis and other management reporting packages
- Prepare and issue timely and accurate financial statements and reports prepared in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard), including notes to financial statements, MD&A and other narratives as required
- Establish best practices and policies for journal entry reviews, revenue recognition, internal controls, and complex accounting transactions
- Prepare annual budgets and update long-term financial forecasts
- Maintain ERP system, including being an active participant in the enhancement and optimization of finance systems strategy and integrations
- Build relationship with external auditors to manage the annual audit and preparation of year-end working papers
- Conduct financial and business risk analyses as needed by management to support the organization or to determine the need for new or revised controls
- Ensure statutory and government filings are completed and submitted on a timely basis including IRAP, SRED, EHT, WCB, GST, and US other VAT returns

**WHAT YOU WILL BRING**
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience, with 2 or more years in a similar role
- CPA/CGA certification required.
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- A pragmatic and engaged approach to managing people through project completion
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well individually and in teams
- Systems-savvy preferably with hands on experience working with large ERPs
- Manufacturing or costing experience highly desired
- Able to multitask and prioritize with a proactive approach in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Great can-do attitude towards challenges and able to work collaboratively with others
- Strong work ethics and dependable with ability to exercise confidentiality
- Self-motivated, team oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
