**Overview**
**Responsibilities**
- Prepare and cook daily meals for residents based on planned menus, taking into consideration individual dietary restrictions (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, gluten-free, etc.).
- Assist in planning and organizing menus in collaboration with management staff, ensuring a variety of nutritious and appealing options.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment in accordance with public health and food safety standards.
- Store and handle food properly to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Communicate with care staff and management to stay informed about resident needs and any changes to dietary requirements.
- Participate in ordering and inventory control, helping ensure adequate supplies of ingredients and kitchen essentials.
- Ensure timely meal preparation and service while maintaining a calm, efficient workflow in the kitchen.
- Assist with special meals and events within the residence, such as holiday dinners or themed events.
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and workspaces regularly.
**Requirements**:
- Previous experience in a kitchen, cafeteria, or food service environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and safe food handling practices (e.g., Safe Food Handler Certification).
- Ability to prepare meals for individuals with special dietary needs and restrictions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan ahead and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for supporting seniors through food and service.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
