We are looking for an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join our Canadian Permitting and Compliance team in Sarnia. Our growing team comprises 14 talented engineers, technologists, scientists, physicists, and project managers. This position is part of our expansion plan to build on services provided to our industrial clients, with specific focus on Industrial Hygiene assessments.
**Duties**:
- calibrate and maintain industrial hygiene sampling equipment before and after field work is performed
- assist in performing industrial hygiene activities including qualitative and quantitative IH/safety surveys, air sampling/monitoring, and noise surveys
- locate and understand the basic concepts of relevant Federal and Provincial occupational health and safety regulations, other occupational health and safety standards and guidelines, including those of OSHA/ACGIH, and, with mínimal guidance, explain such concepts
- utilizing your knowledge of various scientific disciplines, you may collect, synthesize, study, report, and take action under the direction of senior staff based on data derived from your measurements or observations
- Perform duties safely to minimize threats to self and others in work setting with potential chemical, physical, biological, and safety hazards;
- Compile, review, and summarize scientific/technical data and literature;
- Support other service areas as assigned which may include creating source and emission inventories including calculation development; conducting dispersion modelling for both regulatory approvals and incident situations; compiling Emission Summary and Dispersion Modelling Reports and ECA Applications; and preparing NPRI/GHG calculations and reports., under appropriate supervision
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Environmental Technology or related field
- 3+ years of experience in field measurements and assessment, with specific emphasis on Industrial Hygiene
- Experience in other EHS disciplines such as air emission inventories, air permitting, regulatory reporting, and safety/risk assessments is an asset
- Demonstrated expertise in Excel with emphasis on data analysis, and QA/QC strategies
- Strong skills related to technical writing and oral and written communication
- Valid Driver’s Licence
