**Regional Manager, Programming** **Department**: **Marketing** **Reporting to**: VP Sales & Marketing **Position Summary** The Regional Manager, Programming will imaginatively create, plan and execute special events and activations within our hotels across Canada. Working alongside our incredible Marketing and Operations teams, they will build an engaging calendar of truly unique experiences inviting local creatives, visiting entrepreneurs and beloved neighbors into our properties. The Regional Manager, Programming will build upon our vision to have passionate people creating exceptional experiences across our portfolio of hotels. This role will be based in Toronto - reporting to our VP, Sales & Marketing. The Regional Manager, Programming is both creative and strategic and thrives off delivering memorable brand initiatives that connect people. In delivering these activations, the role helps boost awareness and energy in our hotels that converts into business results. The Regional Manager, Programming is responsible for creating strong community and cultural event programs that go beyond brand marketing and span across various industries such as art, fashion, music, tech, wellness, etc. They leverage their personal network of strong contacts within a variety of industries for future partnerships. This role requires telling hyper-local stories while thinking big and being ambitious in creating the annual events calendar. The Regional Manager, Programming will be responsible for suggesting new ways of doing things and collaborating with the team on themes and installations for annual city events and holidays. The role creates systems to track the booking and planning of events so that deadlines and budgets are always met. The role works closely with key stakeholders to ensure all events deliver on established goals. This Regional Manager, Programming is a storyteller who writes copy for the events they curate and tells the event’s story in a compelling way. They collaborate with the SHG Corporate Marketing Department to achieve desired outcomes for events. They communicate (promote) the vision of the event with passion and enthusiasm. There is often need for the role to have an on-site presence at events for coverage and networking. As a Regional Manager, Programming you will work closely with the hotel teams to deliver exceptional guest service experience and strong financial results. - You have charisma and a "can do" attitude that engages people to want to do business with us. - You have attention to detail and are self-motivated. - You're open to new thoughts and ideas and enjoy working with people. - You bring a new perspective and “out-of-the box” ideas to the position. **Key Responsibilities** - Achieve event and activation targets per hotel with a focus on growing engagement, uncovering new customers and identifying potential for revenue streams. - Create new, outside the box programming concepts and ideas for showcasing our hotels, giving physical presence and voice to the distinct brands. Seeing an idea through to completion while setting the groundwork for future replication. - Participate in annual business, budget and strategy planning. - Communicate regularly with Marketing and Operations to lead seamless initiatives. - Keep current on all service offerings, marketing programs and overall property updates for each hotel. - Ensure the brand promise is delivered; coach and empower team members to do the same. - Understand and comply with all health and safety rules, regulations, and laws. Report unsafe acts or hazardous conditions to ensure all department equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner. - Liaise with all supporting departments to ensure a seamless experience for our guests, ensuring our vision of passionate people creating exceptional experiences is at the forefront of every interaction. - Attend and engage in meetings and training as required. - Analyze local market trends and competitor activity to identify relevant and unique programming opportunities. - Develop and grow relationships within each hotel local area to increase market/customer share. - Attend networking events, as required. - Enthusiasm to grow with the company and be part of a team who are passionate about everything they do. - Challenging the status quo and working in an environment that’s creative, rewarding and, most of all, fun. **Environmental Factors** - Primarily a weekday schedule, with some work required in the evenings and on weekends. - Work in a shared office space, often working from various hotel locations. - Travel to the different hotel locations as needed. - Significant time spent on computer keyboard. - Attendance at regular meetings with company leaders. - Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking during special projects. - Some lifting (up to 30 lbs), on occasion. - A fast paced and ever-evolving industry with high demands to perform. - Swift strategic thinking while und
